This website, donotsin.com, is run by Ronald Smith, author of A Child of God Does Not Sin. This page explains what information the site collects, why, who else handles it, and the choices you have.
What you send
The site only collects personal information you type into one of its forms:
- Newsletter signup: your email address, and your name if you add it.
- Contact form: your name, email address and message.
- Media and podcast request: your name, email address and message, plus your show or outlet and phone number if you add them.
- Blog feedback: your name, email address, your comment and the post you were reading. Feedback is a private note to Ronald. It is never published on the site.
With each form, the site also records the page you sent it from, the page that linked you here (if your browser shares it) and your browser type.
The online edition of the book asks for a password. The site checks the password and does not store what you type.
How it is used
- To read and answer your message or media request.
- To send the newsletter, but only if you signed up for it or ticked the box to join the list on a blog feedback form. Sending a contact or media request does not add you to the mailing list.
- To keep spam and automated form submissions out.
- To see, in total, how many people visit and which pages they read.
Your personal information is never sold, rented or traded.
Who else handles it
A few service providers run parts of the site. Each one handles only what its job needs:
- Supabase stores form submissions in a private database.
- Resend delivers the email that tells Ronald a form was sent.
- Mailchimp holds the mailing list and sends the newsletter. Every newsletter has an unsubscribe link.
- Google Analytics counts visits and page views. You can read how Google uses information from sites that use its services.
- Vercel hosts the site. Like any web host, it processes technical details such as your IP address to deliver pages, and it checks form submissions for bots.
- The company that builds and maintains this site receives a record when a visitor reaches a page that does not exist (the address, the page that linked to it and the browser type), so broken links can be fixed.
Cookies
A cookie is a small file a website saves in your browser. This site uses two kinds, and no advertising cookies:
- Google Analytics cookies tell a new visit from a return visit. To stop them, block cookies in your browser settings or install the Google Analytics opt-out add-on.
- The online edition cookie remembers that you entered the correct password, so you do not have to type it again for 30 days. It holds no personal information.
Buying the book
The book is sold on Amazon, not on this site. This site never sees your payment details. Anything you do on Amazon falls under Amazon's own privacy notice.
Your choices
- Unsubscribe from the newsletter at any time with the link at the bottom of any newsletter email.
- Ask to see, correct or delete the information you sent by emailing ronald@DoNotSin.com.
- Block or delete cookies in your browser. The site still works, but the online edition will ask for the password each time.
Form submissions are kept only as long as they are useful for answering you and staying in touch, and are deleted when you ask. Mailing list details are kept until you unsubscribe.
Children
This site is not meant for children under 13 and does not knowingly collect their information. If a child has sent information through a form, email ronald@DoNotSin.com and it will be deleted.
Changes to this policy
If this policy changes, the new version will be posted on this page with a new "last updated" date.
